(RM 035)
The Richard Mille RM 035, famously known as the original "Baby Nadal," is a landmark timepiece that redefined the boundaries of lightweight mechanical engineering. Introduced in 2011 as a follow-up to the legendary RM 027 tourbillon, the RM 035 was designed to provide the same extreme performance and shock resistance but in a more accessible (yet still ultra-exclusive) format. It was the first watch in the Nadal collection to feature a manual-winding movement without a tourbillon, focusing instead on pure structural integrity and record-breaking lightness.
The RM 035 is historic because it was the first to utilize a specialized Magnesium-Aluminium alloy, a material previously reserved for high-performance automotive components like F1 pistons. This choice allowed the watch to weigh an incredible 20 grams (movement only), making it feel like a "second skin" on the wrist. It is the watch that proved a mechanical movement could survive the violent 5,000g forces of a professional tennis match while being lighter than a bag of crisps.
